Content marketing is a marketing technique of creating and distributing valuable, relevant and consistent content to attract and acquire a clearly defined audience – with the objective of driving profitable customer action.
The key word here is Value. Self-serving sales copy is not really the type of content that produces favorable results. People are interested in tips, tricks, insights and insider information. This is the type of content that generally finds favor. To do a good job with content marketing, it helps to understand your audience/ customers and what is on their mind – and deliver information that is useful. The idea behind all of this work is to demonstrate expertise, instill confidence, educate and inform.
But the challenge with Content Marketing is in developing the actual content. Not all of us have the time, inclination or interest to write or take pictures – but not to fear, there are ways and strategies for taking care of those challenges – and they don’t necessarily cost an arm and a leg.
